Asexual Lives
Within the larger community of women, of queer people, and of queer women, are also smaller groups that are further invisibilized and on the margins. One such intersecting overlapping identity is that of asexual women. Having gone unacknowledged and unseen for so long, the community is now establishing itself in larger LBQ circles and is in fact throwing light on a number of issues and nuances otherwise gone unnoticed.
There is strong advocacy for asexual women’s issues at organisational levels across the world as well as headway being made in integrating the same in the UN’s language.
The problem that remains is that there is no concerted effort, no consolidated manifesto with the problems and demands of the community, and no documentation of lived experiences to back those demands.
This project aims to solve this problem and offer a way forward for us.
